Seven months back

"I wish I could have got his case," I said to myself, looking at my laptop; the news channel and media were full of only one piece of news: Is Advait Malhotra more than a CEO? Is he not who he tends to show?

The whole media has gone crazy over him for the past week, and the Malhotra family must be going through a big loss.

These allegations tend to make a person weak, but Advait was still standing out there with his head high like he was okay with everything that was going on.

He is strong, very strong, and having a strong client is all that a lawyer craves. Everything could be thought of, but if your client is scared to talk in the courtroom and doubts themselves, then you will lose the case.

I have just started my journey of being a lawyer, and starting a case that has someone so mindful and strong is itself a merit.

I wish I could have got this case, but his dad has already hired a lawyer from my dad's law firm.

I did think that only if I were working in my dad's firm, maybe I could have got this case, but then who would like a lawyer who is not experienced?

I hope one day I can also open a big law firm, which is mine. I was having these thoughts when I got a call from Ananya.

"Hi," I said.

"What are you doing?" She asked me.

"Looking at his case," I said flatly.

"Kiara, it's fine, I know you like him, but it is okay if you did not get his case." She said while laughing.

"I don't like him; I just want this case" I asserted.

"Just the case? Not him?" She asked me with a smirk.

"No, Ananya, you know this would have been so beneficial for me," I said with guilt in my voice.

"It's okay, Kiara; the universe must have better plans for you; believe me, you will be one of the best lawyers; just have patience and be calm." She tried to console me.

"Damn, you are learning all this motivation from me, right," I said, shock visible on my face.

"Chup she mujhe bhi aata hai yeh sab,", She said while laughing.

(Shut up, I can also do all these things)

"Okay, bye. I need to leave for the shoot" " she said.

"Bye," I replied and disconnected the call.

I still wish I could have had that case because, as I assumed he was proven innocent, Malhotra Inc. bounced back into the market soon, and everything was back to normal.

"Kiara, hello, where are you?" She asked me through the phone. She was probably trying to talk to me from the moment I started drowning in my thoughts.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about India. I will come back tomorrow,", I said.

"I am so happy you know finally we will meet each other after eight years" She said, her voice full of happiness.

"Now, may I go? I need to pack," I asked her.

"Yes yes, bye," she said, I could see her smiling

"Bye," I said as she disconnected the call

I don't want to go back, it is going to be tough to face everyone back at home, especially my dad, the man I have always despised, he has always made my life tough, and the worst thing is that everyone supports him in every decision like his decisions don't mess our life up.

It is going to be a tough day tomorrow, I hope nothing bad happens.

"Dad, it's not possible. I am not coming back." I said to his dad.

"Dare you to disconnect the call, Advait. You will come, and that's final," he asserted, ending the call.

"Have they all gone crazy?" Just as I was about to throw his phone, he received a call from his brother.

"I'm coming. Can you all stop calling me? Leave me alone for God's sake." I shouted.

"Bro, calm down. Why are you so angry? Chill. I called to tell you that Dad is planning something for you." He said.

"What?" I asked with shock.

"I don't know what it is, but something feels off. By the way, it's all over the news that you're coming back tomorrow." He said happily.

"It's like the media has nothing better to do than publish useless gossip," I said, tired of all this.

"True. Okay, bye. I need to leave for the office" He said.

"Bye!" I said as he disconnected the call.

"Ugh, tomorrow is going to be a hectic day. I hope Dad isn't planning anything bad for me."
